Volume 1: Originally published as part of the British Official History set for air operations in World War I, this volume covers the development of aerial flight in Great Britain prior to WW One the formation of the Royal Flying Corps in 1912, and its early operations in France in 1914. Also chronicled is the formation of the Navy's Royal Naval Air Service and its operations in 1914, incl the Naval armoured car squadrons in France. Volume 2:Originally published as part of the British official history set for air operations in World War I, this volume covers in great detail the aerial operations during the Dardanelles campaign 1915-16; the Western Front from the winter of 1914-15 to the end of the Somme battles in Nov. 1916, and the Naval Aerial operations in Home Waters and the Flanders coast down to the end of 1916. Volume 3: Originally published as part of the British official history set for air operations in Worl War , this volume covers operations in German East Africa and German South-West Africa, 1916-17 including the hunt for the German cruiser KONIGSBERG. Then operations in the Air Defence of Great Britain against German Zeppelin raids 1914-16. Then Chronicles the changes & expansion in administration, recruitment, supply and training 1914-16. Finally air operations on the Western Front from winter 1916 to May 1917. Volume 4: Originally published as part of the British Official History set for air operations in World War I, this volume covers the period 1917 and early 1918. It chronicles the operations of the RNAS with the Fleet, 1917 to March 1918 , including airships, bombers, fighter operations, , anti-U-Boat warfare, naval operations from Dunkirk. It then covers the Royal Flying Corps in France from June 1917 to March 1918. Volume 5:Originally published as part of the British Official History set for air operations in World War I, this volume covers air raids on Great Britain for 1917-18 ; Air Operations in Egypt, Darfur & Palestine 1914-17 ; Air Operations in Mesopotamia 1914-18 ; Air Operations in Macedonia 1916 to March 1918 ; Air Operations in the Mediterranean & Near East Waters 1916 to March 1918, and Training developments at home and overseas. 1998 r/p of 1935 edition. Volume 6: Originally published as part of the British official history set for air operations in World War I, this volume covers the creation of the RAF in 1918, technical developments & supply problems, creation & operations of the Independent Bombing Force, air operations during 1918 in Palestine, Italy, Macedonia, Persia, India and South Russia, as well as on the Western Front. Also operations of the RNAS in the Mediterranean and Home Waters for 1918.
