The book is about the young German pilots of World War I, some of whom became household names. Among them, Manfred von Richthofen, Lothar von Richthofen, Karl Schafer, Oswald Boelecke, Max Immelmann and Kurt Wolf. A small number of these “Knights of the Air” survived the war. Most shot down were barely out of their teens. The legendary Red Baron, for example, was only 25 when he was shot down and killed. A fascinating read.
