Following on from the British and German stories in Volume 1, this covers the development and history of the turbojet, turboprop and turboshaft engines, and the aircraft utilizing them, in the rest of the world up to 1960. The bulk of the book is taken up by the USA and Soviet Union but the lesser-known, though highly interesting, work of such countries as Japan, France, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and Hungary is also thoroughly covered. The text is supported by numerous photographs and drawings, and engine data tables, a bibliography and an index are also included. Together, the two volumes make the most complete world history of the subject to date.
