The orgins of Auster were in Alliance, Ohio, where the Taylor Young corporation produced their first plane in 1937. The Taylorcraft Model A, a high wing monoplane with side-by-side seating, proved popular and more than 600 were sold. Subsequently, in November 1938, Taylorcraft Aeroplaes (England) Ltd was formed at Rearsby, Leicestershire, with the object of manufacturing Taylorcraft Modeals A and B and, later the Plus C and Plus D
