Boeing's 85 years spans the manufacture of seaplanes, fighters, bombers, transports & airliners. Boeing started out with sea-sled boats, canoes & furniture. By rebuilding & improving 354 Liberty-engined deHavilland DH-4s and acting as a subcontractor, Boeing built the first all-metal monoplane fighter and became supplier for air transports, B-17 and B-29 bombers. Huge numbers of WWII aircraft were built. 1940s saw Boeing lead with jet bombers & transports, including B-47s and B-52s. Superiority in aircraft business was confirmed with propeller-driven C-97s. This led Boeing to lucrative airline business (707, 727, 737, 747, up to the recent 777).
